Robust Methods for Monitoring and Understanding People in Public Spaces

This is the homepage of the EPSRC funded REASON project. The aim of the project is to develop and evaluate robust computer vision techniques which can understand the way people behave in public spaces. This project brings together researchers from three institutions (Kingston University, University of Reading and University College London) along with end-users to: Investigate robust methods for automatic detection and reasoning about people's behaviour in public places that go beyond a mere set of algortithms and are instead aimed at autonomous operation of practical systems; Investigate new scalable system architectures for large networks of CCTV cameras; and Inform the technical work on the social, legal and operational context in which CCTV monitoring takes place. Investigating robust video analytic systems
Dr. Sergio Velastin and his colleagues from the University of Reading and University College London with funding from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council are seeking the assistance of CCTV operators in developing their video analytics systems.
